Am I really a Protestant?
Hi ive been brought up as a protestant mainly told that the pope has no authority and jesus is the son of god i was told that you cant go to a priest and be forgive by doing 5 certain prayers, i was told you have to make up for what you’ve done in your actions and truly beg for forgiveness . However am puzzled to know if i am a protestant i mean, i believe jesus is the son of god and the pope has no authority ( no offence to any Catholics reading this )and i believe that you cant go to a high figure at a church and ask how many prayers and ill be forgiven but i also believe that the world wasn’t created in 6days and on the 7th god rested tbh i believe god created the big bang which created the universe which possibly took 6 days.If i believe this am i still a protestant ? Can anyone help me

I was raised Catholic. I have always believed in evolution over creation. Even though you do not believe in the authority of the Pope, the Catholic Church during vatican two when writing the Catechism (the Catholic rulebook), it states that one can believe in evolution and what science teaches about how the earth was created, as long as you also believe it was God who created the evolutionary chain of events. So I would say you are still Protestant.

Why do I always receive thumb down answers when answering this question? I respect other belief systems so when someone tells me they do not believe or agree with a certain belief or teaching, I don’t attack them and tell them they are wrong. I simply answer the question from my own perspective or from a different perspective if I know something about the subject matter in question, as well as from my education and experience using the information provided. Also, if you actually read the Catechism, the answer to the question regarding evolution is there. I can’t remember the exact page number, but read it before you give me thumbs down. Respect my beliefs before you start attacking someone for theirs. Learn the religion you believe in before making making assumptions.
